Port of Pivdennyi open for entry and exit of vessels – USPA
The Pivdennyi port is open for vessel entry and exit, and operations within its waters are being carried out with due regard for safety measures, according to a message from the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority (USPA).
USPA added on its Telegram channel on Wednesday that oily slicks had also been detected in the waters of the Chornomorsk port.
"All relevant services have been deployed to deal with the aftermath of the enemy shelling in both waters (the port of Chornomorsk and the port of Pivdennyi)," the message reads.
Specialized vessels and oil recovery vessels are reportedly operating.
As reported, a leak of vegetable oil, an organic substance subject to natural biodegradation, was detected in the infrastructure of the Pivdennyi port (Odesa region) as a result of recent massive enemy attacks.
Additionally, the Pivdennyi port waters were temporarily closed until the consequences of the vegetable oil spill were fully addressed.
As a result of enemy strikes on the night of December 21-22, approximately 30 containers of flour and vegetable oil caught fire at the Pivdennyi port. Cleanup efforts were ongoing.
