New package of EU sanctions against Russia may be adopted by Feb 24 – media
New European sanctions against Russia, which may include a tightening of the ban on the export of luxury goods to Russia, are expected by February 24, the Euractiv portal reported on Tuesday, citing a source.
"The twentieth package of EU sanctions is expected by February 24," the portal reported, citing a European diplomat.
According to Euractiv, Finland and Sweden have called on the European Commission to introduce a stricter ban on the export of luxury goods to Russia, to make servicing Russian oil tankers illegal, and to reduce EU quotas for the import of Russian fertilizers.
It is noted that the export of luxury goods worth more than EUR 300 is already prohibited, but there are schemes through which many such goods are sold in Russia.
