Ukraine expects effective response from EU and NATO countries to the use of Oreshnik missile system – Kondratiuk

Ukraine expects an effective response from EU and NATO countries to the use of the Oreshnik missile, stated Deputy Spokesperson of the Verkhovna Rada Olena Kondratiuk.

"The Kremlin is watching if there is only concern or concrete steps in response. That's why we expect an effective response from our Polish partners and all EU and NATO countries to the use of the Oreshnik missile," Kondratiuk said at a meeting with a delegation of the Poland-Ukraine interparliamentary friendship group, led by Sejm member Katarzyna Królak, in Kyiv.

As reported by the Verkhovna Rada press service, Kondratiuk noted that the use of weapons capable of carrying nuclear warheads is a clear demonstration of Russia's unwillingness to negotiate peace.

"This is a signal of further escalation and continuation of the war. The strike near the Polish border was carried out deliberately, so that this signal would be heard in Warsaw, Brussels, Berlin, Paris, and Washington. This was a shot not only at Ukraine, but at Europe, Poland, and the United States," Kondratiuk emphasized.

The deputy spokeswoman is convinced that Russia is deliberately testing the actual, rather than declarative, red lines of NATO. According to her, Poland is a NATO country, and the attack effectively occurred within the Alliance's direct security zone.
