Klitschko signs memo of cooperation with German GIZ to modernize heat supply in Kyiv
The Mayor of Kyiv, Vitali Klitschko, together with the Director of the Reforming the District Heating Sector in Ukraine (ReWarm) project, Winfried Damm, signed a memorandum of cooperation between the Kyiv City Council and the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) for the modernization of the capital's district heating system, as reported on the website of the Kyiv mayor.
"In May, Kyiv approved the concept of Energy Recovery: Path to Distributed Cogeneration. This is a comprehensive set of measures. In particular, we plan to make the production of heat and electricity local and distributed in different districts of the city. We are talking about energy decentralization. The capital will have new mini-CHP plants of small and medium capacity with the possibility of using different types of fuel," said the mayor of Kyiv.
The mayor thanked the German partners for their readiness to continue supporting the Ukrainian capital and its residents.
"The concept will enhance the resilience, efficiency, and autonomy of the capital's energy supply, which is critically necessary both during the war and after its conclusion," Klitschko said.
