Wind Parks of Ukraine plans to complete construction of 80 MW of Ostrovsky wind farm in Zakarpattia by May 2025

Management company Wind Parks of Ukraine LLC plans to complete the project for the construction of the wind farm Ostrovsky by May 2025 with a total installed capacity of 80 MW, located on the territory of the Nyzhni Vorota community on the border of Lviv and Zakarpattia regions.

"We have indeed connected two wind turbines to the power grid this year. The construction of an 80 MW substation is currently being completed, the next turbines are currently being installed, and we plan to fully connect 80 MW and put it into operation by May next year," said the company's CEO Vladyslav Yeremenko at a press conference at the Interfax-Ukraine agency on Thursday.

According to him, the total capacity of all Wind Parks of Ukraine projects in Zakarpattia region, which are at different stages of implementation, should be 1.5 GW.

As Yeremenko explained, the company is counting on its own production of wind turbines, attracting Ukrainian state banks to invest, in particular Oschadbank, and developing active cooperation with local communities that agree to the placement of energy facilities on their territories, in socio-economic terms.

As the head of the board of the Ukrainian Wind Energy Association (UWEA) Andriy Konechenkov noted at a press conference, Wind Parks of Ukraine in 2022-2023 successfully implemented the relocation of wind turbine production facilities from Kramatorsk to Zakarpattia region, and the company has now established production of its own turbines in the region.

"We are the only manufacturer of megawatt-class wind power equipment in Ukraine, and Zakarpattia has truly become a new home for us. By relocating the enterprise there from eastern Ukraine, we have begun the development of a new page in our history," added the expert.
