Ukraine opens Honorary Consulate in Japan's Kobe
Ukraine has opened its Honorary Consulate in the Japanese city of Kobe, the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine said on Friday.
The ministry said on the Telegram channel that the Honorary Consulate was headed by a friend of Ukraine, Professor Okabe Yoshihiko, who is the President of the Association of Ukrainian Studies Experts in Japan and a professor at Kobe Gakuin University.
"The consulate, which is located on the campus of the University, emphasizes the importance of educational and cultural cooperation between Ukraine and Japan," it said.
The opening of the Honorary Consulate is a continuation of the ministry's policy to expand Ukraine's presence in the world, promote cultural and educational exchange, and strengthen ties with international partners.
"Mr. Okabe Yoshihiko also actively worked to strengthen regional cooperation between Hyogo Prefecture and Ivano-Frankivsk and Mykolaiv regions. In particular, he organized a number of conferences on the restoration of Ukraine and made a significant contribution to supporting humanitarian and scientific initiatives," the ministry said.
