Cardiology, cardiac surgery among most developed areas of Ukrainian medicine today – Radutsky

Cardiology and cardiac surgery today are among the most developed areas of Ukrainian medicine, Ukrainian cardiologists and cardiac surgeons are known all over the world, said the head of the parliamentary committee on the health of the nation, medical care and medical insurance, Mykhailo Radutsky.

"Cardiology and cardiac surgery are among the best areas of the Ukrainian healthcare system in terms of development and achievements. When you go to a clinic in Europe or the United States, the doctors there know our specialists. They told me: 'Do you know Yemets personally?' Those cardiac surgeons never forgot him because they are fans of his," he said at the opening of the 20th International Forum on Congenital and Acquired Heart Defects in Kyiv on October 23-24.

He noted, "What Ukrainian doctors are doing today is our second line of defense because defenders and civilians must return to their jobs."

"We are aware of the problem with salaries; it is a significant issue. We cannot solve all the problems at once, but next year, salaries in primary and emergency care in front-line regions will increase by 30 to 50 percent. We hope to further expand the list of doctors who should receive decent salaries next year," he said.
