The Prime Ministers of Iceland, Denmark, Norway, Finland and Sweden made a statement at the fourth Nordic-Ukrainian Summit in Reykjavik, in which they assured of continued support for Kyiv, in particular the Victory Plan presented by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The joint statement posted on the Norwegian government's website emphasizes that the Nordic countries support Ukraine's Victory Plan.

"We will work to contribute to its implementation. We will also work to strengthen Ukraine’s position, ahead of a second Peace Summit, towards a just and lasting peace based on international law, including the UN Charter, that respects Ukraine’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity," the heads of government indicated.

They also reiterated that Ukraine's future place is in NATO and assured that they would continue to support Ukraine on its irreversible path to full Euro-Atlantic integration, including NATO membership.

In addition, the prime ministers are convinced that Ukraine's future membership will be a significant addition to the European Union and will contribute to peace, stability and prosperity in Europe. "We welcome the opening of EU accession negotiations with Ukraine and have stepped up our joint efforts to support Ukraine’s EU accession," the statement notes.

The Nordic countries emphasize their interest in further developing cooperation with the Ukrainian defense industry. To date, the Nordic countries have committed to allocating EUR 195 million for purchases through the Ukrainian defense industry.

One possible source of funding for such initiatives could be emergency revenues from immobilized Russian assets.

The Nordic countries assured that they will continue to put pressure on Russia through sanctions and international measures against the shadow fleet transporting Russian oil and used to circumvent sanctions.

It is emphasized that the Nordic countries intend to continue to support and strengthen the defense capability of the Ukrainian Defense Forces in their fight for security and peace in Europe.
