SBU checks SAPO for state secrets compliance as prosecutors warn against case leaks

The State Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), without official warning, came to the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO) on Monday to check compliance with the legislation on state secrets, the SAPO calls on SBU employees to strictly adhere to the norms of current legislation in order to prevent "leaks" of information and disruption of the investigation of top corruption cases.

"This morning, the Security Service of Ukraine, without official warning provided for by current legislation, came to the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office to check compliance with the legislation on state secrets," the SAPO said on Telegram channel on Monday.

According to the SAPO, as part of the inspection, SBU officers received access to information about all covert and operational measures, as well as special operations conducted by NABU and SAPO.

"The inspection was organized during a period when the leadership of NABU and SAPO is on an official foreign business trip," the report notes.

"These measures may lead to the disclosure of information about covert investigative actions within the framework of numerous criminal proceedings currently being investigated by NABU and SAPO," the prosecutor's office notes.

"We call on SBU officers to strictly adhere to the norms of current legislation in order to prevent the "merger" of information and disruption of the investigation of top corruption cases initiated by NABU and SAPO," the SAPO report says.
