The Verkhovna Rada's interim inquiry commission for the investigation into possible violations of the Ukrainian legislation by the Defense Ministry and the Armed Forces of Ukraine draws attention to the poor military training of mobilized persons.

"Another problem […] is military training and its poor level. Those who were teachers, combine drivers, sellers yesterday, become soldiers in a month. And, unfortunately, most of them cannot and are not prepared both physically and psychologically to do this job. [They have] a very poor level of training," the chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada's interim inquiry commission, Hanna Skorokhod, who is a Member of Parliament from the For Future deputy group, told a press conference at the Interfax-Ukraine press center on Tuesday.
 

Members of the inquiry commission visited the training grounds several times and observed how the servicemen were trained. According to her, inadequate military training is the main reason why servicemen leave the unit unauthorized.

Skorokhod also emphasized that, unfortunately, there is no command responsibility for the actions of the personnel.

"No command is responsible for the personnel, for the lost personnel, for the lost equipment, for the decisions they make. And, you know, an ordinary soldier, he is responsible for everything, even for lost property on the battlefield," the MP said.

According to her, members of the commission proposed in their bills to amend the legislation and introduce the liability of the command.

"Unfortunately, to date this is blocked by the top military leadership. Mr. Syrsky [Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrsky] is very afraid of everything, he does not like very much our work," Skorokhod said.

According to the MP, during the period of its work, the inquiry commission considered more than 3,000 appeals.

"A lot of guys received help, a lot of issues were investigated and [...] conclusions and recommendations were provided on how it can be changed," she said.
